My Film Debut

I know, I know. No posts in a week! But it's the holidays, everyone is too drunk/inundated with relatives/food-coma-ed* to post. So I feel I'm in good company!

Anyway, way back in August of 2009, I posted about my introduction to stardom: aka, being an extra on a movie set. In this case, the movie was Warrior, which finally released earlier this fall.

Not gonna lie, I was out of the country in Calgary when it debuted, and by the time I got back to NYC, I was too lazy to go and check it out in theaters. I figured there'd be a couple passing images of me and my brother with the neon signs we created jumping up and down in the background during cuts between a fight scene. Woo.

Today, after a few months of being lazy, we figured we'd pick up a copy on DVD and check it out. The movie itself is... well... you know, like all of those fighting movies. Good Guy is Totally Broke and Screwed if he doesn't fight. The Wimpy Wife begs him not to fight cause he'll get hurt. The Reluctant Coach tells him he is Not Good Enough. His estranged dad and bro are also going to join in the Big Melee Fight that Anyone Could Win!! etc. You all know how this ends, I don't even need to spoil you.

But! In the second group of fights (it's supposed to be a 2-day 16-person tournament, so you have to win 4 fights to take home the prize), there's a much more entertaining cut scene! For me anyway. The Good Guy is a Physics teacher, so his students all get together at the local drive-in to cheer him on (because for some reason this drive-in can broadcast live UFC fights? DON'T QUESTION IT!). Those students include yours truly!

As the scene progressed, my brother and I paused and craned our necks at the TV. "Look, you can see our signs in the corner there! And look there's us in the background cheering behind the main cast!"

And then suddenly the scene cut, and we both said "Oh."

So yeah, I probably should've bothered to see this in theater. Whoops! But still awesome. We're in a movie!!! And you can actually see us!! And I look totally weird screaming like that, but at least I did not break character and laugh like Kevin. Clearly I am a superior actooor (cue snooty French accent). Har. Notreally.

This was a fun way to round out 2011 though. Here's to a New Year with more cool new experiences like this one!

* That is a word. Cause I say so.

  2. Very cool! My hubby was in a movie, Frost Nixon. He was stationed at an Air Force base in southern CA and they asked the base honor guard for a few members for the movie. Hubby said there was a ton of standing around, and "Cut! Action!" moments. :)
