Fun with Scissors

I blame my dear crit-partner Corrie for this one. Last Friday she wrote about a vlog series on youtube she found by Cara (aka cutewitch772). In the videos, Cara gives tips on reconstructing old T-shirts: everything from simple ideas like cutting to make them off-the-shoulder, to more advanced tricks like laddering/weaving.

The best part? No sewing required! Just scissors and a creative vision. So this weekend, while my roomie and I were holed up inside away from the cold, shivering and ordering delivery pizza and watching Labyrinth and the Nightmare Before Christmas for the hundredth times... We decided to get creative.

I started out easy, just trying an off-the-shoulder look (this is take 2, because I cut waaay too far down take 1, and pretty much destroyed the shirt >.<):



But then I wanted to get extra creative. Laddering is so much fun! Even when you have no idea what you're doing, like me!



So add another "new thing" tried to my New Year's Resolution list: T-shirt augmenting. Other new things I've tried so far this month? Regular gym membership (egads, my thighs. And my triceps. *pets them*), going to a bar alone to root on my team (and getting called "Pittsburgh" by strangers all night cause of my Lemieux jersey), visiting crit-partner's restaurant in Brooklyn (which I definitely should've done sooner... :D), and saw an off-broadway show (Rent! which I saw on broadway years ago, but I hadn't been in ages, so it was fun).

What about you guys? Anyone else tried anything new/fun/adventurous so far this 2012? If not, I recommend the T-shirt thing... :)
